FORT MYERS, Fla. — A Dunbar High School student was crowned champion in the 30th Certiport Microsoft Office Specialist Florida State Championship.
Brian Velazquez won the Microsoft State Championship and was among Florida’s top-scoring candidates. With the high score he earned on a Microsoft PowerPoint 2019 exam, he will represent Florida in the 2023 Microsoft Office Specialist U.S. National Championship.
The championship is scheduled to take place June 26 – June 28 in Orlando. The first-place winner will receive a $4,000 scholarship, trophy, certificate, and an invitation to compete in the 2023 Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship.
Dunbar has had a long line of champions. The school has produced 3 world champions and 7 national champions since its first competition in 2011.
Velazquez isn’t the only student out of Dunbar who’s earned the title of champion. Andrew Chuang Saladin became a two-time Microsoft Office Specialist U.S. National Champion earlier this year.
