FORT MYERS, Fla. — Officers responded to a Fort Myers apartment complex after reports of a vehicle burglary on Tuesday night.
A suspicious person was burglarizing parked cars at the Village Creek Apartments off of Winkler Avenue, officers with the Fort Myers Police Department said. Police are investigating and are unsure of how many vehicles were involved, a spokesperson for FMPD said.

NBC2 crews saw a juvenile that was detained by police at the apartment complex. It’s not known if they were involved in the burglaries.
Officers are urging people to lock their car doors and secure their valuables. About 90% of vehicle burglaries happen because people don’t lock their cars, officers said.
