MARCO ISLAND, Fla. — A Marco Island business is left with a destroyed door after camera footage shows two people attempting to break in early Tuesday morning.
The manager of Your CBD Store on Marco Island found the doorway shattered with a large rock inside of the store.
“I saw inside and I was like, “What the heck is going on?” said Your CBD Store General Manager Stacy Bull.
A security camera shows two suspects attempting to walk into the store around 3:00 a.m. Tuesday. One of the suspects then runs out of the building and pushes the other suspect away.
The general manager suspects the thieves ran off when they triggered the alarm.
“Oh my gosh, this was intentional,” Bull exclaimed. “Someone threw this boulder through my door and shattered it.”
Nothing was stolen, according to Bull. However, she said the store is left with almost $1,000 worth of damage. The door is now boarded up. Bull said it would take two weeks to replace the door because of shipping and manufacturing delays.
The business next door found a broken doorknob that same morning of the break-in.
“Shame on you for having the audacity to break, disturb your fellow humans,” said Angel Difasio.
Difasio has lived on Marco Island for seven years. She said crime like this is not common on the island.
“It’s violating to everyone on the island,” she said. “Just the chatter of it is violating. It’s disturbing.”
Stacy Bull and other residents said crime is not common on the island. Bull said the CBD store wants to press charges.
“It truly comes down to the fact that these two kids can’t get away with something like this and they need to learn from their mistakes,” Bull said.
The Marco Island Police Department is investigating.
