GOLDEN GATE ESTATES, Fla. – A Golden Gate Estates man woke up to find a large hole in his fence. He said two bears broke through it to get to his trash cans.
The homeowner recently moved to Florida and put up a fence to try and keep wildlife off his property.
Florida Fish and Wildlife experts recommend homeowners who live in an area like the estates get a bear-resistant trash can.
Bears can smell an odor more than a mile away and once they find food somewhere, they will often keep coming back to that location.
If a bear is threatening the safety of humans, pets or livestock, or causing property damage, you can contact FWC.
