PUNTA GORDA, Fla. – A Port Charlotte woman was sentenced to 15 years in federal prison after pleading guilty in two drug trafficking cases.
47-year-old Thea Psathas was found guilty after she did an open plea to the court foregoing a jury trial, according to the state attorney’s office.
Psathas was accused of selling drugs to a confidential informant in a Walmart parking lot in October 2018. Court records show, she let the informant in her car and sold them 27 grams of methamphetamine.
She later sold three grams of meth to an undercover officer with the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office, investigators said.
Both instances were caught on camera.
Four days later, Psathas again sold drugs to the same two people as part of the operation. She was arrested a short time later after trying to steal $14 worth of items from Walmart, investigators said.
The 47-year-old was charged with trafficking by possession in amphetamines 28 grams or more, sale or delivery of a controlled substance, and transportation of drug paraphernalia.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant State Attorney Scott Patterson and Assistant State Attorney Nolan Deming.
