CAPE CORAL, Fla. – Cape Coral police have arrested a man suspected of shooting and killing a father of two.
On Tuesday, Chief Anthony Sizemore announced the arrest of 30-year-old Eduardo Ramon Troche-Rodriguez of Lexington, Kentucky.
Troche-Rodriguez faces second-degree murder charges in connection to the murder of Fernando Batista Montero.
Last June, Montero was shot multiple times in front of a home on SW 10th Terrace.
Investigators believe money was the motive behind the shooting, as jewelry and a large sum of money were taken from the scene.
21-year-old Jose Maldonado of Lexington, Kentucky, was arrested in July in connection to the shooting.
Sizemore said finding Troche-Rodriguez took months of police work, as detectives had little information to track him down.
“The second shooter was only identified by a nickname. That’s all we had to go on through painstaking work of old fashioned. Detective work, putting feet on the street, talking to witnesses poring over digital evidence, forensic evidence. Our team was able to paint a picture and identify our second subject,” said Sizemore.
State marshals traveled to Kentucky and made their arrest.
Officials are working to extradite Troche-Rodriguez back to Florida, where he will formally face charges.
