UPDATE:
FORT MYERS, Fla. — Wisner Desmaret was found guilty of the murder of Fort Myers Police Officer Adam Jobbers-Miller in 2018.
Desmaret is guilty of all eight charges, including first-degree and premeditated murder.
Jurors came to the decision after a three-day trial.

FORT MYERS, Fla. — A capital murder trial slated for two weeks has wrapped up in less than three days.
Wisner Desmaret is facing either the death penalty or life in prison for the death of 29-year-old Adam Jobbers-Miller in 2018.
That’s only if the jury finds him guilty. After day two of evidence being shown by the witnesses the state attorney has called, the defendant left court Tuesday with high hopes.
“I’m happy. I’m just very happy judge because I’m just seeing this,” said Wisner Desmaret.
Monday, the evidence provided to the 12 jurors included body camera video showing Officer Jobbers-Miller’s pursuit that ended with him on the ground and a gun going off.
“I’m running because I’m in fear for my life,” said Desmaret referencing the video that played out in the courtroom.
However, on Tuesday when the state attorney called for the 40. caliber Smith and Wesson to be shown to the jury and a forensics expert spoke; the proof didn’t seem to be there.
Something Desmaret jumped at. It was his first opportunity to truly argue against the accusations against him.
“That’s not my DNA on the gun,” said Desmaret.
The expert who testified said the gun has a total of 3 different types of DNA on it.
“To be plain, it’s a mixture of what seems to be 3 males. At least one of them is male… Wisner Desmaret’s DNA is the type that makes up this mixture,” said Aaron Baker.
However, there was no clear-cut proof that either Desmaret’s or Adam Jobbers-Miller’s DNA was present on the gun.
“I cannot emphatically say yes or no,” said Baker.
Closing arguments start at 9 AM at the Lee County Courthouse.
The jury will then decide on a verdict.
