FORT MYERS, Fla. – A Fort Myers doctor was arrested for attempted kidnapping and battery on Saturday.
According to an arrest report from the Lee County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO), 48-year-old Aaron Wohl, a doctor at Elite DNA Behavioral Health was involved in a violent altercation involving a female victim.
LCSO states that when the victim arrived at the residence, Wohl confronted her and a verbal argument turned physical.
The report states Wohl was upset and began calling the victim derogatory names.
Wohl forcefully removed her phone from her hands and demanded that she provide the passcode while pushing her.
LCSO reports the victim stated she refused to give him the code. She told Wohl he could keep the phone, but asked if she could leave.
Wohl exited the back of the residence and tried to throw her phone into a pond. The victim said her phone ended up along the shoreline causing it to get wet.
She watched Wohl retrieve her phone and put it into his back pocket. He then grabbed the victim and shook her aggressively. He forcefully moved her to the front door, where he pushed her to the ground.
According to LCSO, the victim stated she grabbed Wohl’s hair in self-defense and tried to grab her phone simultaneously.
She continued to refuse to give him the passcode to her phone, making him even more upset.
The victim attempted to exit the residence through the garage door, but was pinned up against the wall, according to LCSO.
Eventually, she was able to exit through the garage door and lock herself in her car.
Wohl ripped open the victim’s car door and took her out of the driver’s seat by grabbing her bra, shirt and hair. He continued to yell after throwing her onto the concrete. The report states she was able to get up and scream for help.
LCSO stated at this point, someone pulled into the driveway, watched the encounter and drove away.
The victim said Wohl began to feel bad, returned her phone and the two went back into the residence.
Once inside, the victim stated Wohl began to cry while cleaning her injuries and apologizing.
According to the report, the victim began texting her friend, and Wohl got upset again, asking her who she was texting. The victim said she was telling her friend how to get inside the gate. He became furious and would not let her leave.
The victim told her friend to call law enforcement.
The victim stated multiple times she wanted to leave the residence, but Wohl continued to have physical control over her. LCSO states when deputies arrived, the victim greeted them at the door, but Wohl would talk over her, saying everything was fine and no further assistance was needed.
Detectives spoke to Wohl, who had visible blood on his t-shirt, appearing to be from the victim. Due to her injuries being consistent with her statement, Wohl was arrested due to probable cause.
Wohl faces charges of false imprisonment and battery touch or strike.
According to an emailed statement from Elite DNA Behavioral Health, Wohl has been placed on administrative leave while this is investigated by LCSO.
