CAPE CORAL, Fla. – If you want to get your hands on a free tree, you can head down to the Rotary Park in Cape Coral Saturday.
You do need to be a Cape Coral resident, and there is a limit of one tree per household.
The 200 trees being given away are thanks to the Arbor Day Foundation, the city of Cape Coral and State Farm.
This is all to help recover from Hurricane Ian after a lot of trees were lost in the storm.
Omar Leon is a city arborist for Cape Coral. He said these trees have a lot of benefits.
“Improve the tree canopy coverage within the city, and improve the environmental benefit we see from trees citywide,” explains Leon.
You can get your free tree from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. today.
