FORT MYERS, Fla. — Fort Myers Police tell NBC-2 Saturday’s shooting scene near midtown Fort Myers has been confirmed a murder suicide.
The home at 109 William Street was taped off and surrounded by investigators Saturday who were going in and out of the home.
NBC-2 went back out to the scene Sunday where a family grieving says it was their daughter who was killed in the shooting.
Tracy Best says her 35 year old daughter Takisha Best, a mother of 3 was gunned down by a former boyfriend who she says shot and killed himself after taking her daughter’s life.
“I’ve been having a lot of family and friends around but I have my moments so it’s difficult but I try to be strong for them because if I break down, they’re gonna break down,” said Best.
Best says what’s worse is knowing that the person responsible for her daughter’s death was someone who was close to their family.
“I’ve known this individual for over 15 years and I wouldn’t ever thought he would’ve come to my house and killed my daughter, when he knows that she got three children,” Tracy said.
We have attempted to confirm Best’s details shared with us to the Fort Myers Police Department.
We were told that this is an open investigation and that all FMPD could confirm is that this was a murder suicide.
The Best family says they are moving forward as a family and are urging others to stay safe and always be extra cautious.
Count on NBC-2 to let you know once we hear from Fort Myers Police about the circumstances surrounding this murder suicide.
