Only five miles separate Naples and Barron Collier, which is why this bitter rivalry is dubbed as the Cross Town Showdown. These two schools have been playing each other for decades. The Golden Eagles have dominated the matchup, winning the last 25 straight games heading into Friday night.
The game started with a scary scene. Barron Collier’s Niko Boyce laid motionless on the turf for a couple of minutes after a hard tackle. The quarterback eventually walked off the field under his own power and left the game with his parents.
Without Boyce, the Cougars offense struggled to get anything going. On the other side, the Eagles rushed for over 400 yards as they cruised to a shutout victory over their cross town rival.
