ESTERO, Fla. – A man is in jail after Lee County deputies say he pulled a gun on a woman during a road rage incident in Estero.
It happened at the intersection of Corkscrew Road and Three Oaks Parkway.
The victim said John Blumenschein pulled out in front of her causing her to brake and change lanes.
The woman proceeded to go around him and got back in her original lane, in front of him.
She stopped at the intersection and that’s when Blumenschein got out of his car and walked up to her window.
He banged something on the window, she rolled it down slightly to speak.
At that point, she said he yelled profanity at her, saying he would “blow her head off.” According to the arrest report, he was holding a gun in his right hand.
Blumenschein is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill.
He is being held without bond.
If you observe aggressive driving:
- Don’t engage with the driver (this can result in road rage);
- Dial FHP (347) from your cell phone or 911 for local law enforcement;
- If possible, get the license plate and/or a brief description of the vehicle (color, type, doors, etc.);
- Remember, there is nothing wrong with safely pulling over and allowing distance between you and the aggressive driver but think safety first always.
Are you driving aggressively or speeding? Slow down and make sure you:
- Stay out of the “no zone” of trucks (blind spot of trucks);
- Don’t cut off vehicles;
- Leave room when changing lanes;
- Stay patient. Being patient is the key to ensure you’re not driving aggressively.
