NAPLES, Fla. – A Naples man is facing charges after deputies said he tried to rob a Wawa gas station in Naples Wednesday night.
Around 9:20 p.m., deputies responded to the Wawa at 4787 Radio Road after reports of a man demanding money from the cashier.
An employee told deputies the man demanded $500 from the register before becoming irate and saying they would “be sorry” if they didn’t hand over the cash.
A manager intervened while the employee pressed the panic button contacting law enforcement.
When deputies arrived bystanders told them the man was walking away from the scene towards Livingston Road, an arrest report shows.
When the man was approached by law enforcement he took off running before he was eventually arrested.
The man later identified as 35-year-old Israel Reyes-Santos is facing charges of attempted unarmed robbery and resisting arrest.
He was taken to the Naples Jail Center.
