FORT MYERS, Fla. — As businesses everywhere search for employees, Citrola’s Italian Restaurant on College Parkway in Fort Myers is no exception.
Short staff can sometimes lead to customers with short tempers, which is what led owner Robin Gorry to recently put up a sign that now greets customers. On it, she asked visitors to show patience and kindness.
“Just wanted everyone to realize we’re all in the same boat, so we’re all a little on edge,” Robin said.
After putting up the sign, Robin has noticed a shift in the attitudes of those who dine at Citrola’s.
Some customers have gone so far as to roll silverware and help clean tables when the restaurant has been short on staff.
“Nobody knows what people are going through on the inside,” Robin said. “It’s just amazing to see how people come together at moments that you don’t even expect.”
