FORT MYERS, Fla. — A 24-year-old Indiana man died Sunday from a single vessel boating accident on the Caloosahatchee River in Fort Myers, officials said.
On Sunday, May 8, around 5:30 p.m., the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) received a report about the accident that occurred.
A paddle craft was being operated by the 24-year-old when he fell into the water. When responders arrived at the scene, he was recovered but was found deceased.
At the time of the accident, he was not wearing a floatation device, according to FWC.
The FWC, Lee County Sheriff’s Office, and Iona McGregor Fire Department all responded to the scene.
The identity of the individual has not yet been released.
