LEE COUNTY, Fla. — Beginning next week voters in Lee County can start going to the polls to cast their ballots for the November election. The governor’s executive order extends early voting through Election Day.
This year’s election is going to look a little different as paper ballots slowly become a thing of the past. Instead, Lee County is rolling out express voting machines to make things easier and faster.
Voters will be required to present their drivers licenses and an electronic ballot is printed. The voter then inserts it into what is basically a high-tech touch screen printer.
Voters will simply follow the prompts and when they’re finished they can print a ballot and insert it into a tabulator to see that their vote has been counted.
Voters who want to use a paper ballot still can. The machines are available in Collier County only upon request.
Early voting begins Monday through Election Day, including weekends.
A mail ballot can be requested through October 29 at 5 p.m. Voters can place them in the mail or take them to a dropbox at one of the 12 early voting sites listed below.
