LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. — A work van was left on its side after colliding with a Lee County School bus in Lehigh Acres on Tuesday evening.
The crash happened at the intersection of Harry Avenue South and 26th Street SW around 6:30 pm.
According to a family member of the driver of the van, the school bus failed to stop at a stop sign on 26th Street SW, crashing into the work van as it drove through the intersection.

“The bus ran the stop sign and just hit my momma,” said Jeffrey Diaz. “I just seen my momma on the floor and I was like what the ****. And then the ambulance came and they just took her.”
His mother and another woman in the van with her were taken to the hospital to be checked out, Diaz told NBC2.
“Yeah, they okay. They in the hospital,” Diaz said. “They checking them out right now, you know? Seeing how they doing.”
The school bus had damage to the front passenger side bumper and was towed away from the scene.

Diaz said he was told at least one child was on the bus at the time of the crash.
“Yo! This is crazy! I’ve never seen some shit like this. Especially a school bus? Come on now, a school bus,” Diaz said. “Come on now. You have to make the stop sign.”
Both the Lee County Sheriff’s Office and Lee County Schools did not immediately provide information regarding the crash.
