Cape Coral handyman accused of scamming customers over $20K for home repairs

CAPE CORAL, Fla. — A Cape Coral handyman is facing felony charges after ripping off victims for home repairs.

Cape Coral Police said they had a warrant for the arrest of Robert Doerr Jr. after learning he had scammed three victims over $20,000.

“He was doing work of all different types from stucco repairs to lanais that flew away from the hurricane,” said Brandon Sancho, Cape Coral Police Department Public Affairs Officer.

The Carvalho family was one of the victims who were scammed — not only once, but twice by Doerr Jr. They first hired the handyman to stucco their home, then hired him for lanai repairs after Hurricane Ian. Both jobs were incomplete…even with money deposited.

“Who can you trust? I mean the guy looked at us straight in the face, nicest guy in the world and he ripped us off,” said Ramon Carvalho.

Doerr Jr. faces multiple charges of fraud and grand theft.
