SANIBEL, Fla. — Roads like Dixie Beach Boulevard on Sanibel flooded after Idalia rolled through.
Billy Kirkland is a Sanibel resident and business owner who said, “This road was probably about a foot and when you turn off another road, it’s probably a foot and a half deep.”
Kirkland was heading down this road to check on his friends, neighbors and his boat.
“Being here if somebody needs some advice and try to help,” said Kirkland.
Whitney Jones is still working to fix the damage Hurricane Ian did to his bait and tackle shop. He said the flooding outside his store on Periwinkle Way isn’t ideal, but he was ready for it this time.
“Probably prepared a little more for this than we did because of Ian, and we just kept our fingers crossed and thank goodness it just went by us, “explained Jones.
As for everyone else on the island, they’re just hoping we’ve already seen the worst of Idalia’s impacts.
“Hopefully it’s done coming this way pretty quick and with only causing a minimal amount of harm,” said Bill Baber.
