FORT MYERS, Fla. — The sentencing hearing for Casey Crowther, the roofer who was found guilty of COVID-19 relief fraud, has been set.
Crowther will face a judge in Fort Myers on June 29 at 10 a.m., court records show. He faces a sentence of up to 140 years in prison.
Last week, a jury found Crowther guilty for the following four charges against him:
- Count one — Bank fraud
- Count two — False statement to lending institution
- Count three and four — Illegal monetary transaction
Before a jury was seated, Crowther plead guilty to bank fraud and giving a false statement to a lending institution, admitting he falsified his bank statements so a mortgage lender would approve a loan for the St. James City house.
During the trial, prosecutors showed evidence to prove Crowther used PPP funds to buy a boat worth about $700,000.
The jury took just over an hour to decide on a guilty verdict.
