COLLIER COUNTY, Fla.–The “Town of Big Cypress” in Eastern Collier County is getting closer to becoming a reality.
Golden Gate Estates residents have received flyers for the development their mailboxes after the final village, Bellmar, was approved.
Now, both Longwater and Bellmar Villages will go before Collier County Commissioners on May 25th. Rivergrass Village has already been given the green light. All three villages would make room for 8,300 homes with 11,000 people.
Once all three villages are approved the developer, Collier Enterprises, will apply for the permits for the town according to officials.
The Big Cypress Town Center will consist of retail space, a 43-acre park, grocery stores, and restaurants.
According to the developer, it would bring 6,000 jobs to the area. The town concept would also include adding bike paths and sidewalks to connect all three villages.
Collier Enterprises is also working with the county to build The Big Cypress Parkway which will run parallel to DeSoto Boulevard North, into the site.
